Here at LULR, we get very excited about showing our readers the country side of London living. Whether it’s providing step-by-step guides to urban bee keeping, or heralding the capital’s latest community garden initiative, it’s all here. We feature the latest ‘rurban’ trends, interviews with London’s self-made rural champions, practical tips on creating a rural life in the city, inspiring DIY projects, and our events listings provides a comprehensive guide to all things countrified in the city.
LULR was born out of my juxtaposed passions for the fast pace and opportunities a big city can bring, and the peaceful, rich countryside lifestyle I often crave. I was brought up in beautiful rural Yorkshire, and in my first few years living in London spent most of my time dreaming about the day I could move back to the country. I missed my garden, green open spaces, the local farm shop, independent retailers. I was floundering in a vast, anonymous city, and missed feeling like I belonged to a community. That is, until I realised that everything I was craving I could find pretty much on my doorstep.
Whatever has brought us to this amazing city, be it university, chasing a career dream or family, there’s no reason why any urban dweller can’t enjoy elements of a more rural, peaceful and all round green existence.
